Keynote lecture at Electronomous Copenhagen

Lecture on correlations of Architecture, Logistics and Mobility, by Marten Wassmann and Henrik Morgen, EIT Urban Mobility

On the opening of the Electronomous International Mobility Summit 2021 in Copenhagen, Marten Wassmann held a dual keynote lecture, along together with Henrik Morgen, Regional Managing Director Northern Europe at EIT Urban Mobility.

The increasing number of parcel deliveries and the movements they entail pollute and congest cities. The Micro Delivery Hubs developed by Gateways introduce a new, integrated building typology. These centralised hubs do not only solve challenges regarding logistics and pollution, but will create an asset to the public realm and daily life routines of inhabitants by turning Micro Delivery Hubs into social hotspots, too.

In 2020 and 2021, consortia that Gateways has participated in have developed concepts for Urban Mobility and Logistics solutions, funded by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT). The projects concerned zero-emission concepts for Mobility and Delivery Hubs within the existent urban fabric of both Helsinki (FI) and Stockholm (SE) and of a future urban development of the Brainport Smart District in Helmond (NL). For locations in Barcelona (ES), Gateways has developed a design for Micro Delivery Hubs, due to be implemented in the course of 2022.
